dinosaur 'roar' valentines
for our dinosaur lovin’ three year old to hand out to her friends and let them know they are ‘roar-some’
YOU WILL NEED
white/cream card - cut into heart shapes
scallop edge ‘pinking shears’ / scissors
twine or ribbon (in complementing pink/red/green tones)
plastic dinosaurs - we found a whole bag for £2 in a charity shop, but you can buy an inexpensive tub worth here
marker pen or word stamps (here)
acrylic paint
paintbrushes (thick with shorter bristles works best)
WHAT TO DO
draw out a rough heart shape in pencil and use your scissors/pinking shears to cut it out
dip the paintbrushes in paint, and flick the bristles with your finger so the paint flecks onto the card (i used water based paint which was easy to rub off the table afterward, but you could always lay down a towel or paper beneath for this part!)
i changed up the colours on each heart for fun and chosen to complement the dinosaurs colour, but you could stick to pinks and reds for valentines
leave to dry
pierce two holes using the sharp point of the scissors near the centre of the heart (around 1cm apart from one another)
place your chosen dino between the holes
thread your ribbon or twine down through one hole (towards the back of the heart) and then up through the second hole (from the back of the heart to the front)
you should now have two loose ends of ribbon at the front that you can tie in a bow over your dinosaur
stamp on your valentine messages and gift to friends with love and a little roar
palatable dino puns
thanks for being my friend-osaurus
you are t-riffic
you make my heart roar
you are roar-tastic
