a milestone diary of ruas third year

i began the title of this post just after your second birthday and i remember i was thinking… how how is she going to be three?

and here we are another year has passed and all of a sudden we have reached another milestone.

three words for you baby girl

determined

cuddly

smiley

you brighten our family

two years and a month (may)

you like to lie in your sisters big girl bed and im thinking its almost time we got you your own… sometimes i come to put you both to sleep and you are lying in one anothers (its your favourite trick and you laugh so hard!)

your vintage noddy playhouse we got for your birthday entertains you for the longest periods

you like playing with no (or a little) furniture in the dollhouses… and have no trouble flinging the things you dont want out and chucking them behind your back

you went into a new room at nursery and we had a few unexpected tears on the first couple of days before you were back to waving me away and trotting off into the room without turning back

you ADORE the sand and sea, your daddy took us to wales for mamas birthday weekend and you loved getting sand under your fingernails and destroying your sisters sand castles

you probably eat upwards of three yogurts a day

still prefer george to peppa

your big sister holds your hand in ballet to help give you courage

two years and two months (June)

sometimes taking naps in your big sisters bed

singing disney songs - you musical lil thing

we stopped drinking ‘booby’ overnight

your very first proper holiday

you were like a true water baby

spinning around in circles in the big girl floaty

intuitively spinning and moving yourself around

wave jumping

sleeping in bed all morning long

two years and three months (July)

you get aggravated when we sing

still referring to yourself in third person like the queen

yogurt addict

you will play imaginary games with your sister, you are moana and she is elsa

your curly curly hair is growing longer

you passed your health visitors check with FLYING COLOURS

youll eat everything we eat

two years and four months (august)

sharing dinners with mama and papa

scared sometimes, especially when balloons pop and surprise you

eating apples

YOU LOVE moana… you will watch the movie over and over and over

trying to sing along the words to the songs

suddenly you love penguins

two years and five months (September)

you dropped your day nap! Suddenly on Thursday 6th September.

sometimes you tell me, “im scared mummy” and when the workmen were drilling across the road and you heard the loud noise you covered your face with your hands

super independent…. i do it

you like lolly ices and im thinking about safety locking our fridge and freezer to keep you out

you prefer maui to moana now

two years and six months (October)

‘one more’

big emotions - probably our most challenging month ever

you get ‘scared’ poor thing

you got a lolly pop stuck in your hair and we had to give you a mini haircut

you love to help out

wearing your black sparkly welly boots constantly

your bum wiggle when you are eating

two years and seven months (November)

you love to bring home sticks

‘STOP TALKING marlow!’

you watched moana 2 in cinema and as soon as it finished you said, ‘we watch it again’

you sing along to songs in the car

wiggling with excitement continues

super snuggly and cuddly with your mama and papa

sleeping beside us in bed almost all night long… occasionally kicking our bellies and putting your feet into our undies

two years and eight months (December)

moana 2 soundtrack on repeat

everything on your santa list is moana themed

you are a beautiful ballerina

best friends with ruairi

beans above all else

marlow likes to ‘pinch necks’ but you prefer nipples (ouch)

two years and nine months (January)

learning the potty

fiercely independent

‘mar-wow’

making your best effort to dress and undress yourself

singing songs to yourself… like ‘baby shark doo doo doo doo’

very musical, you dance when you hear a tune and on a real piano i think when you press the keys it sounds quite nice

two years and ten months (February)

you like to carry your baby dolly on your shoulders like daddy does with you

you call ‘shreddies’… ‘freddies’ and eat them each morning

you dont like ‘ponytails’ you like ‘unicorn tails’ in your hair

bouncing with daddy on weekends when mum is making moulah

daddys nipples are just as good as mamas apparently… you arent fussy so long as you can torture us with your fingers (particularly when tired)

two years and eleven months (march)

having the occasional accident overnight but you have been incredible

you can belt out most of the words to the moana 2 songs

getting lost in imaginative worlds with your little moana figures

water play in the garden constantly now the weather is more bearable

your perch is on daddys shoulders when we are out for family walks

three years already!

still a firm ‘yogi’ lover

youve gone from tulip room to pre prep with such bravery. your first day in class you were making everyone around the table laugh in hoots

favourite colours now are yellow and pink

the only thing you wanted for your birthday was a ‘moana cake’

reverted back to taking naps in the day and you NEVER want to wake up from them

dry overnight like a lil superstar

your sisters best friend
